About the Photo of the Day
I began the Photo of the Day on May 24th, 2011. Because photography is not my full time occupation, the Photo of the Day might be posted in the evening. I thought of calling it Photo of the Eve or Photo of a 24 Hour Period but figured Photo of the Day was less confusing. Also, the photos of the day will link to bigger versions. At the moment I have to do that at home so till I can get that done, if I happen to be on vacation while posting, they will eventually be linked to a larger version. Sorry for any inconvenience that may cause. I hope you are enjoying these as much as I am enjoying sharing them. If you would like to know more about them or want to drop me a line you can send me a mail at mpgpc@alittleplaceontheweb.com.
Note: There seems to be something odd with Explorer 8 and XP mostly though I have been told it happens with Windows 7 at times too. The full size version is being re-sized into a smaller version that is not of any pixel size I have uploaded so at this point I have no idea how to fix that. Sorry again and if you have suggestions I’d be happy to know how I could fix it.
About Me
Hi and welcome! I’m a semi-pro photographer. I have done weddings and senior photos but what I really enjoy are landscapes and nature in general. I also love trains and railroading so you will see lots of those types of photos on this site. I call my enterprise Photo Creations because I rarely ever have just a straight photograph. I love to play and tweak and create with them using different software. The main programs I use are Corel Paintshop Photo Pro X3 and also Photoshop CS5. I have also just recently become interested in HDR photography made famous by Trey Ratcliff. That was one of the main reasons I decided on a fancier camera than my Sony.
Most of the photos you will see on this site were taken with my trusty Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F828. That camera takes great photos as I hope you will see by example as I start posting them. I just bought a new digital SLR in March of this year. I decided on a Pentax K-x. I had used a Pentax ME Super back in the day when I shot on film and had a number of nice lenses and after a lot of reading reviews and study decided on the K-x as an entry level Digital SLR. So far I have been happy with it.
I hope you enjoy looking at my photos as much as I have enjoyed creating them. Thanks for stopping by.
