We are in West Virginia and today we rode the Cass Mountain Scenic Railroad.  This is the Shay locomotive that pushed us up the mountain on an old logging route.  The grade at times was 9% which was as much as in a car yet the engine did it like it was nothing, well except for chugging loudly and putting off a nice plume of smoke!
