I got this shot a couple of weekends ago in Minnesota at Tamarac Wildlife Refuge.  I was lucky enough to see and capture a swan coming in to land in the water.  It was pretty cool.

This was a colorful sky we had back in February.  We don’t have much in sunsets lately because the sky usually has absolutely no clouds because we get no rain lately.  Wow it’s hot out lately too.  Thinking of color days with this post.  :-)

I took this photo just the other day.  I was being artsy and this is my ice plant.  I liked how the suns rays came out in the shot and the way the background looked as well.

I got this shot this spring when the lilacs were in bloom.  There were a lot of butterflies enjoying these lilacs.  This one is a Dusky Wing Butterfly.  It’s wings have an almost iridescent shine to them when open.

I got this shot in Minnesota the other week.  This is Minnesota’s state flower in bloom.  It’s in the orchid family and is called a Pink Lady Slipper.  There were bunches of them in this one spot!  They were quite lovely!

This is a Twelve Spotted Skimmer Dragonfly.  It’s the first one I have seen here.  I saw several in Minnesota last week.  He was so nice to pose for me on my pond plant that I just had to take his photo.  :-)

This is a macro photo I shot on Friday.  This is a Gazania flower that I have sitting on the porch.  They are a drought hardy plant which we need this year and it is quite colorful and even more so close up I thought.

While I was in Minnesota I saw my first Blue Heron up close.  I had seen them before here but they were always so far away.  I first saw it standing in a pond but as I got too close to it it took off and I was able to capture it in flight as well.  This is one of those photos.  I love the way their legs hang out behind them.

Went up to Minnesota last week.  On the way we stopped in Sioux Falls South Dakota and went to the butterfly house there, as if we didn’t have enough here.  :-)   They had some really beautiful and different ones there, tropical varieties.  This shot is of a pair of Blue Morpho from South America.  When one would be sitting another would fly in and nudge under it and move it off.  Was funny to watch.  It was also about the only way you could see them with their wings open because they would rarely sit still and when they did their wings were closed like the one above.  The blue was so pretty and iridescent looking.   He’s a bit blurred because he was moving in on the other.

Well, it’s officially summer!  I thought i would post a summer related photo.  This is a flower on my Jalapeno Pepper plant.  I grow them to make salsa.  I also have a baby pepper.  Yay.  Will be eating fresh veggies soon.
