Happy Leap Year Day! Spring is on it’s way here it’s seems though I fear it will decide to be winter in March or April. Here is a photo from spring of last year to get in the mood. My daffodils are already about 2 inches high. Not sure if that is a good thing or not.

I was just playing around in Photoshop the other day with a geranium photo that I took. I lowered the saturation on it to give it a more pastel look. I kind of liked how it turned out with the way the focus was as well.

So normally I would not post a photo like this here but there’s a kind of interesting story behind it. I saw this in my sink yesterday morning and after emitting a bit of a girlie scream, I thought “Hey, I wonder if I can get a shot of that”. I’m doing a photo project elsewhere and there is someone who does spider macros and I thought I’d like to try one. I was brave cause I could see it kept slipping when trying to climb out of the sink. So I was able to get the shot and I posted it saying I had no idea what it was. Well someone answered me back saying that if you can look at the original larger and pay attention to the eyes and because of the markings on it’s back, he was pretty sure it was a brown recluse. Sure enough, after looking and comparing, that’s what it was! If I had known that before taking the photo, you would not be seeing this photo right now. Ewwww So now you know what one looks like as well with the distinctive violin mark on it’s back. UGH

So a couple of weeks ago I was playing with my new telephoto lens and I finally got a decent shot of a cardinal that I didn’t even have to crop. Then I was looking at it on my computer and realized I didn’t get his whole tail in the shot. So because I was dissapointed with that I did this painted effect on the photo which I kind of liked.

I was out walking late afternoon on the 21st of February, just a few days ago, and looked to the west and this is the sky I saw. Some of the lower cloud formations were very odd. I think these are called linticular clouds.  The sky in that direction was rather an odd color as well. If I remember right there was rain around but we did not get any. Not sure if that was the cause or what.

I took this photo this summer as we were riding the Georgetown Loop Railroad in Colorado. Engine #12 goes downhill backwards to Georgetown. While stopped in Georgetown in goes around the train and gets on the front and pulls forward back up to Silver Plume. The engine is actually a little small for the steep grapes on this run so they use a diesel helper to get back up to Silver Plume as well. You can see it behind the engine in this photo.

I took this macro photo just the other day. Thought it turned out rather well. Loving the new set up.Â
This is a macro shot of a pink geranium.

This is what the plant Gayfeather or Button Blazing Star looks like in the fall after it has bloomed. I think even dried up it still looks quite interesting with it’s spikey nature and fuzzy spent flowers.

This is the sunrise I saw when I got to work on February 2. Lovely reds in the sky. Only wish the huge roof of the Foot Locker warehouse was not at the bottom. Ah well. That’s what I see at work and more.

I haven’t posted one of my flower photos that I like to take the background out and put them on a black one instead. This is a photo from this summer of some Surprise Lilies also known as Naked ladies. The geraniums the day before were against a dark background so when photographed, it appeared black.
