Time for another railroading shot.  This is one I took a couple of years ago at Georgetown Loop in Colorado.  I converted it to B&W and I liked the old time feel it gave to it.It was about to rain the day we were there and the treatment makes the sky even more dramatic.

I have been enjoying processing railroad shots in black and white lately.  It gives them a nice old time feel.  I have a new B&W processing program that really does a nice job of converting them and can give them different looks.  This one was a straight conversion as the original worked well for that.  This is the Cumbres and Toltec railroad double heading out of Chama, New Mexico and headed back to Antonito, Colorado.

Here’s a railroad image cause they are my favorites and that’s what i feel like posting today!  :-)   This is a locomotive from the Cumbres and Toltec railroad at the coaling tower in Chama, New Mexico.  It runs between there and Antonito, Colorado.  I have heard that this tower was restored recently.  I decided to process in B&W for a more old time feel and I liked how it turned out.

Time for another railroad shot.  :-)   This is a sepia toned shot of the Shay locomotive that pulled our train in West Virginia this summer.  Well, at this point it was pushing.  This was at Cass Mountain Scenic Railway, a very lovely ride through the Monongahela Forest.

I was playing around with railroad photos the other day and a new photo program I have for Black and white effects.  I like the look it gave this one as I thought it had a very old time photo feel to it.  This is an engine on the Durango and Silverton Railroad in southwestern Colorado.

I don’t usually share my black and white work here but I really liked how this one turned out so thought I would.  This is a monochrome version of the Glade Creek Grist Mill in Babcock State Park in West Virginia.  We were there on the 4th of July this past summer.

I did this photo last fall.  I like how it looked in B & W so thought I would share it.  It’s the blooms of a Surprise Lily that I Photoshopped the background out of and put it on black.

I’m going to do something different today.  I wanted to post a B&W version of the photo from yesterday.  I’d be interested to see which one is preferred.  In my opinion the B&W shows more of the fine details towards the center of the flower.  I used Color Efex Pro to convert it to B&W and also used a Tonal Contrast Filter on it to bring out some highlights.
