The Baltimore Orioles are fully back. They are eating jelly like crazy. We have 5 of them at least this year! I have to feed them jelly twice a day and also have an orange half out for them. They are very cool to watch but very skittish and difficult to get a shot of. This one turned out rather well in spite of that.

We had a bird visit last week that isn’t usually found in our area. This is a White Crowned Sparrow. They are usually found further south of us but this guy was around for at least a couple of days. Haven’t seen it since so might have moved on. I loved his little black and white cap. Very different looking. I upped the contrast a bit to bring him out against the Safflower seed shells he was standing in.

The Baltimore Orioles are back! Yay! I was able to capture this guy perching in the River birch tree. So far I have seen 2 males and one female. Not sure if one of the males is an off spring from last year. I wonder if it’s the same pair that come back all the time.

Happy May Day! It’s turning very cold and very windy. I was out taking photos and saw these geese flying south overhead. I think they were thinking “What the heck, I am out of here”!

When I was out taking photos in the yard this weekend I saw several robins walking around the lawn looking for food. This one posed for me quite nicely so how could I not take his picture?Â

This is a fairly decent shot I was able to get of a male Cardinal this summer sitting in the Walnut tree. They never sit for long and they never sit very close so always happy when I can manage a pretty good shot.

This is a little Junco I was able to capture a few weeks back sitting in the Mulberry tree out the window. It was quite a cold day and he was all puffed up against the cold and looking at me very cutely. So nice of it to pose so well.Â

The last time we had snow, a couple of weeks ago, I captured these two Common Flickers sitting under branches on the walnut tree trying to stay out of the snow I think. Neither one of them was pecking for food they were both just sitting there, It was actively snowing at the time though you can’t really tell in the photo, it was very fine at this point. Remember you can always click on it for a larger image.

Home again. Back to winter weather as well, we are under a winter storm warning! Where is spring.Â
This photo is fitting for today I guess. I got this during the last snow we had. A female Cardinal sitting in the Walnut tree in the snow looking rather cold.

This is a pretty old shot. It’s from last winter I think. It’s a Bluebird I am pretty sure because of the orange belly in one of the oak trees in the yard. I enhanced it a bit and it really brought the blue out.
